Management of the Lagos State University, LASU has suspended 25 students over their failure to appear before the Students Disciplinary Committee (SDC) investigating alleged examination misconducts leveled against them.

The students, who were accused of committing various forms of examination malpractices ranging from impersonation to appearing in examination hall with fake exams identification tags were summoned to appear before investigative panel, but failed to turn up. Majority of them are 500 and 400 levels students, except a student from the Faculty of Social Science, (political science) who was caught with photocopies materials inside the examination hall.

The decision to suspend the students was taken by the school sequel to the 37th Statutory meeting held by the Student Disciplinary Panel, (SDP) at the main campus of the University. In its bulletin with Ref No: LASU CIPPR/1/1649, dated March 18, the management through the Committee approved the suspension of the 25 students for the 2015/2016 academic session. Some of them also allegedly engaged in similar act during the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 sessions.

According to the SDC, :"The students were suspended for failing to appear before the Examination Misconduct Panels set up by the University to consider cases of examination misconducts allegations leveled against them." To give the affected students the opportunity to defend themselves before a final decision is taken by the school, it was directed that they should be re-invited for trial while serving their
suspension, while they liaise with their various Faculties/Campuses for a new date of invitation.

Meanwhile, the University matriculated over 3,000 on Tuesday for the 2016/2017 academic session.
