While we’re putting in maximum effort to gently ease ourselves up off the sofa after a marathon Netflix watch, 100-year-old Jean Dawson has been busy becoming a total yoga champion over the last thirty years.
Yep. Prepare to feel a little rubbish about your current fitness choices.
Great grandmother Jean Dawson celebrated her 100th birthday on February 20. She’s still in incredible health, and is proof that it’s never too late to get in shape and find happiness with an exercise you love.
She credits her long life to starting yoga classes at age 67, after seeing an advert in her local area. She’s since spent decades under the guidance of yoga teacher Christine Tyson, who’s now 66.
Jean, from Cottingley in West Yorkshire, says yoga has entirely changed her life for the better.
‘It has really changed my life and has helped cure aches and pains,’ says Jean.
‘I used to have trouble from a slipped disc in my back but doing yoga really helped me cope with it.’
‘I have met many kind people through yoga and made some good friends.
‘I don’t know how I would be today if I hadn’t taken up Iyengar Yoga. It has given me good posture, balance, concentration, flexibility and stamina.’
