12 alternative songs for the ultimate Valentine’s Day playlist

That time of year has come again when the airwaves are full of annoying love songs.

They are the sort of songs we’ve heard time and time again and the songs we wish never to hear again.

There’ll no doubt be plenty of spins of Chris de Burgh’s Lady In Red and Donny Osmond will be singing Puppy Love, which ironically instantly gives me a Pavlovian response to want to kill puppies when I hear it.

So, for any other people also dreading hearing about Barry White’s My First, My Last, My Everything, for those who don’t want a phone call from Stevie Wonder saying he just called to say I Love You, and to all the people who already know what love is, so go back from whence you came, Foreigner, here are 12 alternative songs to listen to on Valentine’s Day.

Or night…

12 – Blame It On The Boom Boom – Black Stone Cherty

Lead Singer Chris Robertson wants you to ‘enjoy the show’ and although he’ll ‘ask you where you like it,’ he’s gonna ‘tell you where you’re going to get it.’

Kicking this list off are southern rockers BSC with this big groove and dirty riff to get your blood going and get you in the mood for some fun dans le chambre.

11 – Feel Like Making Love – Bad Company

Laid back, he doesn’t over do it – he plays it cool.
